Time Machine

Imagine that you can go in the future or back in the past in this Time Machine. If you had a Time machine where would you go, who would you want to see? In my opinion I would want to go to the future and the past I would go to the future so I could see what I am going to do with my life. I would want to see if I am going to be good and doing what I have always wanted to be. I would want to see if I’m doing badly so I could fix it so my life won’t be bad when that time comes. Then I would want to go to the past so I could maybe see what my grandpa one more time because he passed away when I was a little girl. So I don’t really remember him much. So if I could go in the past I could get to know him better and have a memory to share with others about him. What I have heard and remember of him he was a very loving person and cared about his family a lot. Everyone has stories about him I want some to tell my children to.

The scary part about inventing a time machine is you don’t know if something happens to the machine and you have to stay in the past or future. That would be scary because i8f your in the future you just missed half of your life. You would probably go crazy because you wouldn’t remember half of your life. So I think everything happens for a reason, so even though I would want to change things in my life I don’t think I would. I haven’t made all the great choices in my life but no one is perfect. If we never made mistakes then we wouldn’t learn to do things the right way. I don’t regret anything in my life because my little brother knows what I have done wrong and maybe he will know not to make the same mistakes as me. I try and make good decisions so I could be a great role model for him.

If I went into the future I would also want to see if I continued to do the thing I love the most to do throughout college, which would be playing Basketball. If I would see that I’m not playing for college then I would do everything I can to make sure I make it.

That’s what I would want to do if I had a time machine but for right now I think I will stay in the present and live my life to the fullest, so I can be ready for the future.

My Family Tree

In this picture it looks like an ordinary tree but it’s really not. It’s strong and each branch to me is like its own family. My family is very strong and has been through a lot. Even though they come from rough and poor childhoods it doesn’t let that get in the way of them living life to the fullest. My family always makes sure that everyone is happy because a minute of sadness is a minute of happiness you can’t get back and life is too short to be anything but happy.

Most of my family were born here in New Mexico but didn’t always live in Albuquerque. No matter where life takes us my family always manages to stay close together. We try and stay close because we think of it as if one of us passed away and we weren’t close to each other we would regret it. We would regret not being close because once we had a chance and now it’s gone so that’s why we stay together. In my family there are a lot of us grandchildren and great grandchildren. There is very little of us girls but that only means we have them to get us girls tougher. There isn't a really big age difference with my cousins and me so I like that to we all have a lot in common.

My father’s side of the family aren’t that close though it almost seem like they are jealous of each other. They can go months without talking to each other. I don’t like that because that’s not how a family is supposed to be. I am pretty close to my dad that’s what really matters to me because I need him in my life and I’m glad that he is. He tries to be a great dad and in my eyes he is. Both of my parents are the best they keep me happy I love them both so much. Even though we all get in arguments we always remember we care for each other. That’s all that matters and other that my family is wise, loving and like to do good for other people.

Like I had said my family is strong they don’t let anything get in there way of doing something and even at time we are very competitive but at the same time very loving. We work and stick together as one! Having a family history is very important because our next generation or the generation after that wants to know about our family then they could look up our family history and they could know what kind of family they had.

The Starfish Story

What does this story mean to you? “The Starfish story” to me is trying to say that even though you can’t make a difference with everything that even if you try you still made a difference with some things. I have also tried doing things to help people. For church we would get together to feed and give clothes to the homeless. I knew that we couldn’t feed all of them but the ones we could I knew we made a difference and helped them the best we could. I would help with that because it made me feel happy and when I would see their faces with smiles because people actually do care about them was just over whelming.
Every day is about making a difference so why not try and make a difference in your life and other people. You don’t only need to help people but maybe with animals or other things it doesn’t matter what it is as long as you try your still helping make a difference and you will feel better about yourself.

Change Human Trafficking

What do you see in this picture? This is a picture of a pregnant girl around the age of 16 in Canada that has been pimped out from Craigslist’s. Pimps as you see will do anything to get what they want. They don’t care if they are hurting other people. They put girls out even if they are pregnant. Some of these young women are getting pregnant at the age of 16 or maybe even younger. I think the reason why the young girls do this is because they don’t feel loved, or they might have problems at home and they just want to feel like someone loves them even though they are getting treated badly. What some of these girls might not realize is human trafficking is also modern day slavery. Did you know that 2.5 million people from 127 different countries are being trafficked around the world? In the Department of Justice, there were 1,229 human trafficking incidents in the United States from January 2007- September 2008. Each year about 17,500 individuals are brought into the United States and held against their will as victims of human trafficking. Out of these incidents, 83 percent were sex trafficking cases. Also between the years 2007-2008 more than 30 percent of trafficking cases were from children being forced to have sex with strangers.1.2 Million children are trafficked each year. I think that Craigslist’s should see what people are putting on their web site because by checking they might be able to make a difference and save a life. Human trafficking is wrong people that do it need to look at the future and whoever put them down or anything they need to prove them wrong. They can have a better life and I want to help make these numbers go down.

Diego Rivera

Tell me what you think? To me the painting from Diego Rivera reminds me of how women had to work, and make their food a long time ago. It shows me how hard people had to work; it wasn't so easy where a lot of things are given to you like they are now. Now in our days we have fast food restaurants, we buy our flour, tortillas, and everything to cook with. This picture shows that she’s maybe grounding up grain for flour to make tortillas or some other food for her family. Women are still strong today but this picture says she’ll take care of her family, she isn’t worried about getting dirty and she will work hard because maybe she feels that’s her part as a women. It Is so different now and it seems like it was better back then. People maybe saw the value of life better than we do now. We take things for granted, we complain if we have to work a little bit harder for things and I don’t think we should be like that. This is what I think when I look at this picture.

The Great Debaters

The movie "The Great Debaters" is a very interesting and inspiring movie. I think it has a good message to it because the movie still had a lot of racism. It shows the different life styles there used to be, how different everyone lives and thinks.
I think the message in the story was trying to say that blacks and whites are equal. They just want to be equal as well even though they are different colors; you shouldn't judge someone for their looks. The whites would think of them as low lives, that there good for nothing. A part of the movie that really touched me where I saw how cruel people are is when Mr. Forest Whitaker and his family were in the car; driving having a nice time, then before you know it they had hit something. Well Mr. Whitaker went to go check what it was and it happened to be a pig. The owners of the pig came out and were really rude because it was a black man there. Mr. Whitaker told them that he would give them money to pay for what happened. They were asking for more than he had, so he had to give the farmers there check they needed to support themselves. He gave it to the farmers, they dropped it and mad him pick it up for them. That part I thought was wrong because he was just trying to pay for what was an accident and they have to be racial.

This movie inspired me in many ways. It taught me that everyone is equal and to treat others the way you want to be treated. From now on I am going to look at life a whole different way. In a way that no one is better than another, life is a very precious thing and don’t let people ruin it for you. The way you are is unique, don’t try to act like everyone else, and don’t let people try and tell you what to do or treat you like dirt because of your skin color or you nationality.
I would recommend this movie to everyone I think every school should show this movie. I think that because it can change the way people think and act.
