By Emma Lazarus, 1883
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
The statue stands on Liberty Island in New York Harbor. The poems to me means Freedom and I think when people go see the statue or walk by it, it gives them hope. I think the statue of liberty reminds everyone of the changes in the world and how we have it better than others.

Wanting a better Life.
The people in Hati are going through so much pain. Watching their world fall apart. 80% of the population lives in the poverty line. The people in Hati are so desperate for food because they are starving, some of them ate cookies of dirt, mixed with some fat, and let them bake in the sun. Hati still has hope even though what is happening is a tragety. People are trying to help them, trying to make things a little easier, to show these people that we will help and that we do care about the horrible things that happened to them.
